Vision Statement
Oconee Regional Medical Center’s business plan, marketing strategy, and capital investments must be aligned with the following market realities for the 1990’s in order to have financial stability and sustained growth:
- Acute care facilities to be redesigned for current acute Medical-Surgical needs, Obstetrics (LDRP), ancillary and diagnostic services and to continue outpatient trends (on-site and satellite locations)….
- Technological advancements to continue… capital and physician-intensive.
- Current, broad-based, highly competent Medical Staff to render needed services to patients and to play an even greater role in hospital’s image, credibility, and reputation as perceived by community.
- Emergency Department continues to increase as major point of both (a) access to and (b) potential exposure for the hospital… must be balanced and managed with an emphasis on clinical excellence, service, and efficiency.
- Continuum of care services to become successful and valued services to the community.
- Hospital network and cooperative alliances to be key opportunity for market share gains… partnership approach with physicians will be key to success.
- Employee relations and working conditions ever critical to sustained success of hospital programs, availability of manpower… ("employer of choice")
- Measurable quality and "value" (perception of service and cost) become more critical as competitive edge (or disadvantage) among choices of hospitals ("hospital of choice"), and physicians.
- Health Care reform and external business pressure will place increasing importance on health care providers being affiliated or "networked" in effective managed care programs.
- Operating efficiency and productivity will become more critical as "low cost/high quality" providers are sought by industry and managed care contracts.
- Continued enhancement and expansion of Hospice, which helps terminally ill patients (and their families) to ensure the best possible quality of life until the end of life.
- Continue to strive to improve the health status of our community through wellness, disease prevention and education.
