Where:
You will report to the Outpatient registration area on the 1st floor of Park Tower, Oconee Regional Medical Center with your doctor’s order. Please report to registration 30 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment time.
Purpose :
By using CT, an x-ray technique that produces cross-sectional imaging, the radiologist is able to visualize internal structures at great detail. This technique allows the radiologist to biopsy internal structures.
Preparation:
Patients need to be NPO after midnight prior to there procedure. The patient should not take any ASA products for 5 days prior the there exam.
Procedure:
Patients should check in at the Ambulatory Care Department. There they will be prepped by a nurse ( IV started, Blood Pressure taken, etc.) and sent to the Cat Scan department for the actual procedure. A nurse will administer sedation during the exam. Follow the procedure the patient will go back to Ambulatory Care to recover from the sedation and then be released to go home. The patient should have someone to drive them home.

The patient will be given aftercare instructions, prior the leaving the hospital.
The radiologist’s report of the results will be sent to your doctor. Your doctor will discuss the results of the test with you.
