Appointment Time:
When:________________________Date:__________________________Time:________________________

Where:
You will report to the Radiology registration area on the 1st floor of Cobb Tower, Oconee Regional Medical Center with your doctor’s order. Please report to registration 30 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment time.
Purpose :
This test provides a picture of soft tissue organs. Generally it is an exam that includes the liver, gallbladder, pancreas, bile ducts, spleen and kidneys. This exam could also be specific to just one of these organs. The scan is safe and painless; there is no radiation involved.
Preparation:
You may not have any food or fluids for 8 hours prior to the exam. Medications can be taken prior to the exam. If you take insulin, consult your physician.
Procedure:
The procedure usually takes approximately 45 minutes. You will be asked to change into a gown and provide a brief history. You will then lay on the ultrasound table. In order to obtain quality images, we will need to place a water-based gel on your abdomen. A transducer will be placed over the abdominal area and moved back and forth to obtain the images necessary to answer your physician’s questions.
After Care:
After the test, you may resume all normal activities.
The radiologist’s report of the results will be sent to your doctor. Your doctor will discuss the results of the test with you.

Please call (478) 454-3815 (Ultrasound Department) if you have additional questions.
