Speech Therapy
Speech-language pathologists (SLP) assess, diagnose, and treat individuals who have speech disorders that affect a person’s speech, language, cognition, voice disorders and swallowing disorders. SLP’s work with people who cannot produce speech sounds, those with speech rhythm and fluency problems, and those with problems understanding and producing language. SLP’s can also help people who wish to improve their communication skills by modifying an accent and those with cognitive communication impairments such as attention, memory, and problem solving disorders.

Cardiac Rehabilitation
Cardiac Rehabilitation is a continuum of care that helps cardiac patients recover and improve their physical and mental functioning while adjusting to the lifestyle changes required to live healthy with cardiovascular disease. Cardiac Rehab during the hospital stay is referred to as Phase I. It then continues in our outpatient Cardiac Rehabilitation Center after you are discharged from the hospital and have a doctor’s approval. The initial outpatient phase of cardiac rehabilitation is referred to as Phase II Cardiac Rehab.

Phase II Cardiac Rehab is usually covered by insurance. Your sessions will be scheduled three times a week for an hour at a time. Additional educational classes with lectures, videos, and counseling will be available once a week. Your rehab may last anywhere from six to twelve weeks, or even longer. It is important that you complete the recommended rehab plan. Your hard work in cardiac rehabilitation will have lifetime benefits.

Phase III Cardiac Rehabilitation requires medical clearance to participate and is a monthly, self-pay wellness program. Cardiac Rehabilitation is designed to help patients with heart disease recover faster from cardiac surgical procedures, maximize quality of life and return to full and productive lives. The goal is to reduce your chances of another occurrence of heart problems.

Either young or old, almost everyone with heart disease can benefit from Cardiac Rehabilitation. Rehabilitation will help you feel better faster, get stronger, reduce stress, reduce the risks of future heart problems, and even live longer. Cardiac Rehabilitation can make a difference if you:
    • Had a heart attack
    • Sufferend from angina or heart failure
    • Had a heart transplant
    • Had a coronary bypass surgery or balloon angioplasty (PTCA)

Clinical safeguards have been established to promote a safe and effective rehabilitation program. Through an initial evaluation, our registered nurse will assess your readiness for the appropriate level of exercise. Your heart, pulse, blood pressure and blood oxygen content will be monitored during each session by our staff.
