New Imaging Technology Available at
Brazosport Regional Health System
PET/CT capability is now available at Brazosport Regional Health System! PET (Positron Emission Tomography) combined with CT (Computerized Tomography) is a state of the art medical imaging tool designed to help physicians pinpoint cancer in the body before treatment recommendations.

PET/CT is the only clinical imaging technology available to detect and quantify metabolic changes in the body. PET detects the growing cancer cells in the body and the CT provides a detailed picture of the location, size, and shape of the cancerous growths. Fundamentally, the PET/CT can be used to evaluate and provide information on the effectiveness of radiation therapy and chemotherapy.

Many advantages result from the PET/CT scan including earlier diagnosis, accurate staging and localizing, and precise treatment and monitoring. The scanner is extremely patient friendly and reduces exam time allotting only 30-45 minutes for the scan to take place. “The high-tech images that the PET/CT scanner creates will give our patients a better chance of a good outcome,” stated John Maxwell, M.D., Radiologist at Brazosport Regional. “This leading-edge technology will significantly increase the level of imaging services in our community.”
